A Brighter Future

Join Our Trust

The Boleyn Trust provides the structure and services needed for our schools to amount to more than the sum of their parts.

We welcome enquiries from schools that share our vision and values, who may wish to join our multi-academy trust.

We are unswerving in our commitment to ensure that the outcomes our young people secure prepare them fully for life beyond school. Our schools are vibrant, happy and thriving communities where children achieve, and feel safe and cared for. Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do, as we strive to help children and young people overcome any barrier to learning. You can see the improvements made to academies that have joined us below:

We believe that any school could reap the benefits and rewards of collaboration as we develop our multi-academy trust.

The government’s vision is for every school to be part of a family of schools in a strong multi-academy-trust.

For more information on joining our trust please contact Tom Canning CBE, our Chief Executive by emailing tom.canning@theboleyntrust.org.

We understand that there are many ‘myths’ from an employment perspective about working for a multi-academy-trust. You may wish to look at our Frequently Asked Questions below which will hopefully alleviate any concerns you may have.

I want to come and work for the Trust, but I currently work for a maintained school in a Local Authority. Will I lose my continuous service?

No, the Trust recognises and protects continuous service with those organisations currently listed on the redundancy modification order. Service is protected for the purposes of sick pay, annual leave, occupational maternity pay, and redundancy.

What is the difference between working for a Local Authority and working for the Trust?

Moving to The Boleyn Trust has many advantages. The main one is that you get to work in a collaborative environment with staff from other Boleyn schools. As a member of staff, you also benefit from greater opportunities for professional development and potential promotion as you will be working with other professionals in our family of schools.

If I was successful would I be subject to a probationary period?

No, the Trust does not operate a probationary period. Performance is managed via the appraisal process for both teachers and support staff.

I understand that Multi Academy Trusts do not have to use the national conditions of service for teachers or support staff. Will my terms and conditions of employment be worse?

No. It is correct that Multi Academy Trusts are not bound by national conditions. However, we adhere to the Burgundy Book and the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document for teachers and NJC conditions and the Green Book for support staff.

What about my pension?

Your pension is the same with the Trust as if you were working for a Local Authority. Teachers are automatically entered into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and support staff are entered into the Local Government Pension Scheme. Under current legislation, you can choose to opt out of the pension scheme if you wish.

Will I be able to join a union?

Of course. The Trust has a national recognition agreement with the major unions (NASUWT, NEU,  NAHT, ASCL, GMB, UNISON, UNITE). Senior leaders of the Trust meet regularly with these unions through our Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) to consult on policy and other Trust developments.

Take a look at the videos below which give a flavour of what the Boleyn Trust is all about.
