The children at New City took part in a spectacular performance put on by Chinese dancers, martial artists and musicians to celebrate Chinese New Year(also known as Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival), the year of the dragon, which will take place on the 10th February 2024.
Year 5 took part in a dance workshop and Year 6 participated in a Martial Arts workshop led by Lǎoshī 老师 (Mandarin teachers) from the Confucius Institute, to understand the purpose of the festival and how to celebrate.
These activities allowed children to experience the language and culture in authentic context.
Happy New Year! 新年好! Xīnnián hǎo!
